Climate Awareness Program

Take Action Global supports systems of districts and schools in 6-week climate awareness programs.

Activities:

U.S. Department of State

Take Action Global supports global educators in climate education and education innovation through 10-week virtual exchange experiences in partnership with the U.S. Department of State.

Activities:

  • Guided 10-week learning experience with 40 international educators per cohort
  • Experiences with global collaboration, edtech tools, and instructional design
  • Guidance on designing teacher created materials through publishing and curation
  • Expert webinars, research and data visualization, and connections to policy and diplomacy

LEGO Build the Change

Take Action Global is proud of the three-year partnership with the LEGO Group and the Build the Change program supporting educators and students with learning experiences across the school year.

United States Embassies

Take Action Global is honored to partner with U.S. Embassies in countries around the world to support climate education, cultural exchange, and international relations.

Activities:

Take Action Global School, Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya

In 2020, Take Action Global opened its first school in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. Today, Take Action Global supports daily learning for students through innovation, computer science, and climate education.

TAG Forests, Tree Planting Initiatives

Take Action Global is working to create a crucial bridge between climate education and tree plantings by promoting large and individual efforts.

New York City Department of Education

Take Action Global is proud to partner with NYC Department of Education for climate action education programs. Serving 1.1 million students in over 1,800 schools, the NYC DOE Is the largest school district in the world.

Activities:

  • Developing and facilitating a Global Schools Program with the NYC DOE Digital Learning Initiative Department to support educators across burroughs with 1-year long professional development experience on the UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • Developing and facilitating a year-long program for high school students to explore the UN SDGs and take action on transforming education through climate action
  • In-person experiences at the United Nations, Ford Foundation, CDW, and Microsoft
  • Emphasis on equity, innovation, digital learning, storytelling, and virtual exchange

Climate Education Advocacy

Take Action Global is committed to climate action education awareness and advocacy efforts through professional sharing, research, and partnerships.

United Nations Collaborations

Take Action Global is formally recognized as a civil society organization with formal association with the United Nations Department of Global Communications and is the founder of TeachSDGs.

Activities:

  • Attend UN programs and events and open meetings of the United Nations bodies at the United Nations Headquarters in New York
  • Engage with United Nations Information Centres and Services in areas of our work and expertise

Accessibility and Language Translations

Take Action Global is committed to ensuring access to climate education for all through language translation efforts and follows accessibility best practices and adheres to principles of universal design

Activities:

  • Integrate accessibility into organization processes as indicated by the W3C Accessibility Maturity Model
  • Include focus on accessibility and feedback into practice across teams, including instructional design, graphic design, software development, and communications
  • Include people with disabilities in personas
  • Program language translations into 17 languages
  • Formal partnership with ClimaNow to develop a Swiss program for educators in Switzerland for access in English, German, and French

New York City Mayor’s Office

Take Action Global supports the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through a developed partnership with the UN, NYC Mayor’s Office, Junior Ambassador program, and World’s Largest Lesson.

Activities:

  • Create and lead 6-month long professional development experience for educators participating in the Junior Ambassador Program
  • Sponsored by the NYC Mayor’s Office and the United Nations
  • Exploration of the UN SDGs and implementation in classroom instruction
  • Showcase at the Mayor’s Mansion with student presentations and expert speakers
