The current centralized Internet infrastructure consumes energy at unsustainable rates. The gigabytes of data used by each one of us come at a significant cost to the environment. Together, with all the data centers around the world, they represent over 2 trillion gigabytes of storage and consume around 205 TWh – more than the State of New York City.
ThreeFold Grid.
Our partners at ThreeFold have created the largest peer-to-peer internet grid in the world, the ThreeFold Grid, by using cutting-edge technology and eliminating layers of complexities. This results in an energy-efficient internet grid.
Aligned with the vision of enhancing life on planet earth, TAG and TF join forces to create the world’s first Peer-to-Peer Carbon Negative Internet Grid. This will be done by involving students and teachers in the quest of regenerating the earth.
Mission.
The mission of our individual and collective initiatives is simple: fighting against climate change and enhancing the lives of community members. Together, our project:
- Leads organized and individual tree plantings that help in absorbing the carbon emitted from the ThreeFold Grid
- Supports education by providing internet access to emerging countries, renewable energies, and financial support to schools
- Tracks impact with students and teachers able to submit actions using the EarthProject mobile app
